A Few of our Favorite Things to Do in Prescott

Prescott isn’t just a destination, it's a feeling, an experience that resonates deeply with visitors and locals alike. Whether you're drawn by its natural beauty and dreamy weather, intrigued by its history or captivated by the warmth of its community, Prescott welcomes you with open arms and promises memories to last a lifetime. From sun-kissed mornings by the lakes to vibrant market days filled with local treasures, Prescott holds a promise of endless discoveries. So, pack your bags and set your heart on this Arizonian gem -- where every day is a new adventure waiting to unfold.

Outdoor Adventure

The Prescott National Forest offers over 850 miles of maintained trails and eight Wilderness Areas totaling more than 104,000 acres. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and rock climbing are an integral part of the Prescott lifestyle.

Prescott also has more lakes in the city than any other city in Arizona. The lakes are perfect for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and other non-motorized or small-motor activities. Swimming is not permitted in most of the lakes, but they still make great places to cool down, go for a run or bike ride, enjoy a picnic or click that perfect sunrise or sunset shot.

The Whiskey Off-Road Mountain Bike Race and Whiskey Row Marathon are tons of fun to watch or participate in,  and draw thousands of visitors to town every year.

For a truly local outdoor experience, hop on a guided horseback ride on trails that Doc Holiday, Wyatt Earp and Virgil Earp did back in their day.

Museums

Sharlot Hall Museum is an open-air museum that takes you on a journey back in time with 11 exhibit buildings presenting the Pre-History of Arizona’s Central Highlands as well as beautifully maintained gardens and grounds which serve as the setting for numerous public festivals and events.

The Museum of Indigenous People offers a deep dive into the rich history, traditions and artistry of Native American communities. Vibrant tapestries, intricate beadwork and artifacts invite visitors to explore these ancient peoples that continue to thrive and inspire.

The Phippen Museum showcases close to 800 incredible pieces including some of America’s finest Western Art.

The Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is home to several rescued animals, where you’ll learn about different species and the importance of preserving them.
